Case Study: Reconnect
Queensland Arts Council's program for youth at risk and youth in remote areas

Members of Queensland Arts Council, Zeal Theatre Company and Q-Music have been working with schools in the Cape York communities of Pormpuraaw and Kowanyama to develop a two week arts residency project, ArtsCaper.
Involving students from Prep to Year 10, ArtsCaper offered students experiences in filmmaking, song writing, clay animation, physical theatre and role-playing.
The project culminated in the development of live and recorded performances, to be shared in a community screening. In addition to these youth workshops, Roz Pappalardo from Women in Docs used her expertise to facilitate song writing and recording sessions for the communities’ emerging and established musicians. She collected entries for Q Music’s Q Song Awards, which is presented in Brisbane in August.
