Ipswich Portraits: Objects and Mementos
PHOTOGRAPHY + AUDIO
An exhibition by Donna Davis

A POWERFUL AND INSPIRING EXHIBITION BOTH VISUALLY AND EMOTIONALLY STUNNING
Donna Davis presents ten distinct individuals in ‘portrait’, not with faces but with images of their objects and mementos offered for the artist, re-mastered in photographs slick with digital artistry.
This contemporary look at portraiture provides an intimate glimpse into the lives of the sitters – allowing the viewer to reflect on the objects themselves in order to construct an image of the person depicted. Donna skillfully celebrates her subjects in intricate and individually-considered ‘framings’ of her own design.
Ipswich Portraits: Objects & Mementos resonates with unique stories and the evidence of their careful collection as markers to humanity. This exhibition re-presents a cross-section of characters, whilst telling a larger story of the Ipswich community and, by association, many Queensland communities.
The experience will inspire every viewer to reflect upon their own objects and mementos and their own stories.
