The Very Hungry Caterpillar
A FUSION OF CRAFT AND LITERATURE CELEBRATES ONE OF THE WORLD’S MOST POPULAR CHILDREN’S BOOKS
A quilt project by Karen Walden, inspired by Eric Carle’s book The Very Hungry Caterpillar
In this popular exhibition Bundaberg textile artist, Karen Walden, shares her quilted project inspired by Eric Carle’s classic book The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
This soft rendition of this universally loved tale uses collages of hand-dyed fabrics, machine appliquéd, with painting and drawing, to recreate the book’s vibrant colours and textures.
Ten colourful larger-than-life ‘pages’ allow families to reconnect with and follow the story as the enthusiastic caterpillar eats its way through the pages to fulfil its insect destiny, cocoon and become a beautiful butterfly.
